What to write on your registry page?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Write that your presence is the present, and that gifts are not expected. If you have a gift list, explain what it is for, how to use it, and where to find it.

A registry page should feel gracious and optional. Start by saying that having guests there is the only gift you need. That takes the pressure off. Then, if you have a gift list, explain it simply. For example, you might say you are saving for a house, a honeymoon, or new furniture, and that any contribution is welcome but never required. Give clear instructions on how to use the list, whether guests give online, in person, or by cheque. If you prefer no gifts at all, say so plainly and suggest a donation to a charity you care about instead.

Keep the tone warm and honest. Some guests like to buy a physical gift, so you could mention that a small list of items is available if they prefer. Never include prices on the website, as that can feel awkward. If you have a separate gift list service, link to it from your registry page. Remember that some guests may not be able to afford a gift, and that is fine. The page should make everyone feel welcome, not obliged. You can also thank guests in advance and say you look forward to celebrating with them.
