What to write on a wedding website?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12

Short answer

Write in a warm, friendly voice as if you are talking to your guests. Share your story, give clear practical details, and end with a personal thank you.

Your words should feel like a conversation, not a formal announcement. On the Home page, say something like, "We are so happy to announce we are getting married, and we would love you to join us." Then give the date and venue. On the Our Story page, tell how you met, the proposal, and what you love about each other. Keep it genuine and not too long.

For the practical pages, be direct and specific. Write, "The ceremony starts at 2pm, please arrive by 1.45pm," rather than vague times. Use bullet points for directions, accommodation options and the schedule. For the RSVP page, write a clear instruction: "Please let us know by 1st June using the form below." On the Gift List page, say something like, "Your presence is the best gift, but if you would like to give something, we have a small list here."

End the site with a thank you. Say how much their support means to you, and that you cannot wait to celebrate with them. Avoid clichés and keep it personal. Read it aloud to see if it sounds like you.
