Short answer
Compare the two venues against the same checklist, including capacity, cost, location, catering, weather backup and legal ceremony options. Visit both again, then choose the one where you can picture your whole day working smoothly, not just the pretty photos.
When you are down to two venues, stop looking at new ones. Instead, make a fair comparison. Write down the same set of questions for both, and fill in the answers from your notes and quotes. Look at the total cost, not just the hire fee. Include travel, accommodation, catering, decorations and any extra charges. Check the capacity for your guest list, and whether the space feels right for the size of your wedding.
Think about the practical flow of the day. Where will guests arrive, where will the ceremony be, and how will they move to the reception? What happens if it rains? Is there a plan for cold weather or strong wind? Ask about noise restrictions, curfews and whether you can use the outdoor space. If you plan a civil ceremony, confirm the venue is approved for that. If you plan a religious ceremony, check whether the venue is registered for marriages, or whether you need a separate legal ceremony elsewhere.
Visit both venues one more time, ideally at the same time of day. Picture your guests there, not just the decorations. Talk to the venue team and notice how they respond to your questions. The right venue is one where you feel confident the team will handle problems calmly. Trust your gut, but make sure your head agrees.
