Short answer
There is no fixed number; expect the number you invite, minus a few who cannot attend. Most UK weddings have between 50 and 150 guests, but smaller and larger weddings are equally common. Your budget, venue capacity and personal preference decide the final count.
The number of guests at a UK wedding varies widely. Some couples choose a small ceremony with just close family, while others invite 200 or more. What matters most is that you invite people you genuinely want to share the day with, and that your venue and budget can comfortably hold them.
As a general rule, expect that around 10 to 20 percent of invited guests will not be able to come. This could be due to travel, work or other commitments. So if you invite 100 people, you might have 80 to 90 on the day. But this is only a rough guide, and every guest list is different.
Think about your venue capacity first. If it holds 80 people, that is your maximum. Then consider your budget for food, drink and seating. You can also plan for a buffer: invite a few more than your ideal number if you are prepared for everyone to say yes.
Remember that children count as guests, and so do plus-ones. Be clear on your invitations about who is invited, and set a realistic number that you can manage without stress. The day is about celebrating with the people you love, not hitting a target.
