Short answer
Five types of etiquette are: invitation etiquette, dress etiquette, gift etiquette, table etiquette, and social media etiquette. Examples include RSVPing promptly, wearing the suggested outfit, choosing from the gift list, waiting for the toast, and not posting photos before the couple.
Invitation etiquette covers how you respond. Reply by the date, state any dietary needs clearly, and never assume you can bring a plus one unless the envelope names them. Dress etiquette means following the dress code and avoiding white if you are a guest, as that colour is usually reserved for the couple. Gift etiquette involves choosing something from the gift list or giving cash if that is the couple's preference, and sending it before or shortly after the wedding. Table etiquette includes waiting until the couple or host begins eating, using the correct cutlery from the outside in, and not reaching across others. Social media etiquette means respecting the couple's wishes. Some couples ask for an unplugged ceremony, so no photos until after. Others have a hashtag. Follow their lead. Also, do not post pictures of other guests without their permission. Each type of etiquette is about consideration. Think about how your actions affect the couple and other guests, and you will usually get it right.
