Short answer
A simple toast is: "To [names], may your life together be full of love, laughter and good health. Please raise your glasses." You can also say "To the happy couple" or "To [names]."
A toast does not need to be long. The best ones are short and sincere. Start by asking everyone to raise their glass. Then say something like: "To [name] and [name], thank you for bringing us all together today. We wish you a lifetime of happiness. To the couple." If you are the best man, you might add a line about their future, such as "may you always find time for each other." If you are a parent or a friend, keep it personal but not too private. The key is to make eye contact with the couple and speak clearly. You do not need to memorise a poem or quote. A simple "to love, to laughter, and to happily ever after" is fine, but avoid clichés if you can. You can also toast to the families who have supported them, or to absent friends. End with the words "please raise your glasses" and then everyone drinks. If you are nervous, practise the toast out loud a few times before the day.
