Short answer
There is no fixed number, but most photographers deliver several hundred edited images for a full day. Agree the exact number and delivery time in writing before you book, so you both know what to expect.
The number of photos depends on the hours you book, the style of the photographer and how many guests you have. A full day of coverage usually means you can expect a generous gallery, often enough to tell the whole story of the day. What matters more than a raw count is quality and variety. Look for a good mix of candid moments, portraits, group shots and detail shots of the venue, flowers and table settings.
Ask the photographer how many images they typically deliver per hour of coverage, and whether that includes both colour and black and white versions of the same shot. Check how long you have to wait for the gallery, whether you get printing rights, and if there is an online gallery for guests. Some photographers deliver a preview within a few days, which is lovely for sharing straight away.
Make sure the contract states the number of edited photos, the delivery deadline and the format. If you want a specific number, ask for it. Photographers are usually happy to tailor the package. Remember that fewer, carefully edited photos are often better than hundreds of duplicates.
