What should you put on a wedding website for dietary requirements?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Put a clear dietary requirements section on your RSVP page, asking each guest to list allergies, intolerances and preferences, and explain how the caterer will use this information.

Create a dedicated part of the RSVP form where every guest can note their dietary needs. Ask for allergies first, then intolerances, then preferences such as vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free or dairy-free. Give examples so guests know what to include, like nuts, shellfish or lactose. Add a note that the caterer will be told about allergies and will label dishes clearly on the day. If you are having a buffet or family-style meal, say how guests can identify safe dishes, such as cards on the table or a menu online. For children, ask parents to add their needs separately. Also ask about religious or cultural requirements, like no pork or no alcohol in cooking. Remind guests to update their details if they change their mind closer to the date, and give a deadline for final changes. Keep the wording warm and reassuring, not alarming. Say you want everyone to enjoy the food safely. If you have a set menu, publish it on the website so guests can see what is being served. This helps them plan and reduces questions on the day.
