What questions should I ask on my online wedding RSVP form?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Ask for each guest's full name, whether they can attend, their dietary requirements, and which events they will join, such as the ceremony, reception or evening do.

Keep your RSVP form simple and respectful. Start with the names of the invited guests, so you know exactly who is replying. Then ask a clear yes or no question: "Can you attend?" If they say yes, ask which events they will join. For a UK wedding, that might be the ceremony, the drinks reception, the wedding breakfast and the evening party. Ask about dietary needs, including allergies and religious requirements. You can use a free text box for that. If you have a gift list, do not ask about it on the RSVP form, that is separate. You might also ask about song requests, but keep it optional. If you have children invited, ask for their ages so you can plan seating and food. If you have a hotel block, you can ask if they need help booking accommodation. Do not ask about plus-ones unless you have already offered one. Keep the form to five questions maximum. Too many questions put people off. End with a thank you message. Make sure the form works on a phone, because most guests will use one. You can also add a note that they can contact you directly if they have questions.
