What should I ask a wedding venue about parking and transport?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Ask how many parking spaces there are, whether parking is free, and whether there is disabled parking. Also ask about drop-off points, taxi availability, and whether the venue is easy to reach by public transport or shuttle buses.

Ask the venue how many parking spaces they have and whether that is enough for your expected guest count. Ask if parking is free or if guests need to pay, and whether there is a dedicated area for disabled drivers. Ask about the surface of the car park: is it lit, and is it secure?

Ask about drop-off points near the ceremony and reception entrances, especially for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. Ask whether there is a shuttle bus or courtesy transport from a nearby town or train station. If not, ask which taxi firms serve the area and whether the venue can pre-book taxis for guests at the end of the night.

Ask about public transport links. Is there a bus stop or train station within walking distance? If the venue is rural, ask whether guests can leave cars overnight and collect them the next morning. Ask about any restrictions, such as parking permits or time limits. Finally, ask whether the venue has a policy on guests who have been drinking, and whether they encourage overnight stays or provide a safe way home.
