Short answer
Send your wedding invitation by post in a sturdy envelope, with the guest's name and address written clearly on the front. You can also send e-invites, but for formal weddings, posted invitations are traditional and often preferred.
To send a wedding invitation, place it in a good quality envelope that fits the card without folding. Write the guest's full name and address on the front, using their title and surname unless you know them well. For a couple, put both names on one line or two lines, with the woman's name first if you are using traditional etiquette, though modern practice allows either order.
Add the correct postage, especially if the invitation is heavy or has extra inserts like a map or RSVP card. Post them at least six to eight weeks before the wedding, or earlier if guests need to book travel or accommodation. For guests abroad, allow extra time and consider sending by international post with tracking.
If you are using e-invites, send them with a personal email and a clear RSVP link. Many couples now send a printed invitation for older guests and an e-invite for younger ones, or use a wedding website with a QR code on the printed card. Whichever method you choose, make sure the date, time and venue are correct before sending.
