Short answer
Address the invitation to the parents and include the baby or toddler's name on the inner envelope, or on the outer if there is only one envelope.
For a family with a baby or toddler, the simplest way is to address the outer envelope to the parents, for example Mr and Mrs Patel. On the inner envelope, write the parents' names and then the child's name, for example Mr and Mrs Patel, and Baby Anaya Patel. If you are using a single envelope, write all names on the front, with the parents' names first, then the child's name. For a very young baby, you might write 'and baby' if you do not know the name, but it is better to find out. Toddlers can be named just like older children. If you are not sure whether the child is invited, check with the parents first. Some couples prefer an adults-only wedding, and that is fine, but you must be clear on the invitation. For a family with a baby, it is often helpful to mention that you have reserved a space for a pram or that there is a quiet room, but only if that is true. The key is to be clear and warm.
