How to scan location QR code?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Point your phone camera at the QR code and tap the link it shows. Your phone will then open a map with your wedding venue's location ready to guide you there.

Most modern phones can scan a QR code straight from the camera app. Open your camera, point it at the code on your invitation or welcome board, and wait for the notification to appear. Tap that notification and your map app will open with the venue pinned. If nothing happens, you may need to allow camera access to read codes in your settings.

Some guests prefer to save the location before they travel. You can tap the link and then choose to save it to your maps app or share it with someone in your travel party. This means the address is ready even if you lose signal on the way.

If a guest struggles with scanning, you can always print the venue address and postcode on the same card. A simple written address works just as well as a code and removes any worry about phone compatibility. Many couples include both on their invitation so everyone can find the venue easily.
