Do I need to bring my veil to my hair trial?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For brides

Short answer

Yes, bringing your veil to the hair trial is highly recommended. It helps your stylist see how the hairstyle will sit with your full wedding look.

Your veil can completely change how a hairstyle looks. A heavy veil may weigh down an updo, while a light one might blend in unnoticed. Your stylist needs to see the actual piece to advise on the best style and placement.

If you have not yet bought your veil, bring a similar one for the trial. Let your stylist know the length and weight so they can plan accordingly. This is also a good chance to practise putting it on and taking it off, which can be fiddly on the day.

Some hairstyles work better with veils attached at specific points. Your stylist may suggest clips, combs or pins that hold everything securely without damaging your hair. They can also show you how to adjust the veil for the ceremony versus the reception.

If you are changing your mind about the veil, let your stylist know at the trial. It is much easier to adjust the hairstyle now than to rush on the morning of the wedding.
