How to use the hair and make-up schedule
- Enter the number of people needing hair and make-up.
- Add each person's estimated time.
- Enter your ceremony start time.
- See when hair and make-up must begin.
When to start hair and makeup for your wedding
Work out your start time by counting back from when you need to leave. Add up every person getting ready, including yourself, your partner and anyone in the wedding party. Give each person a realistic slot. Some need longer than others, and you may want a buffer for touch-ups.
Think about who is doing the work. If one hairdresser and one make-up artist are handling everyone, they cannot work on two people at once. More people means an earlier start. You can split the group across two rooms or two teams to speed things up.
- Allow extra time for group photos while everyone is dressed.
- Build in a short break for the bride and partner.
- Ask your stylist how long they usually need per person.
How to build your bridal party getting ready schedule
Write down every name on your list before you start timing. This includes bridesmaids, flower girls, parents and anyone else having their hair or make-up done. Do not forget the partner if they want grooming too.
Add a few minutes to each slot for moving between rooms, grabbing a drink or fixing a strap. Things rarely run exactly to plan, and a small cushion stops the whole morning from slipping. Aim to finish with enough time to eat breakfast and relax before the ceremony.
If you have a large party, consider splitting into smaller groups. This keeps things calm and means everyone finishes at a similar time. Share the finished schedule with your hair and make-up team so they know what to expect.
Tips for a calm hair and makeup timeline
Keep the morning relaxed by starting early enough. A rushed start can add stress on the day you want to enjoy. Confirm your final headcount with your stylist a week before so they bring enough products and time.
Plan where everyone will get ready. A large house with several bathrooms helps, but a small flat may need a different layout. Ask your stylist for their advice on space and lighting.
- Book a later slot for anyone who wants a second look.
- Keep phones charged near the styling area.
- Have water and light snacks ready for everyone.
