Wedding emergency kit checklist for your big day
Pack a small bag or box with the things that go wrong on the day. Keep it somewhere safe, like with your planner or a trusted family member. You want it close, but not in your way.
Start with the basics everyone needs: plasters, safety pins, tissues, and a small sewing kit. Add painkillers, antacids and any personal medicines. Don't forget phone chargers, a power bank and spare batteries for your camera or lights.
For the bride, pack spare tights, a hairbrush, bobby pins, blotting paper and a small mirror. For anyone in heels, add gel insoles and blister plasters. If it is outdoors, bring sun cream, insect repellent and a small umbrella.
When to pack and who holds the kit
Pack your kit the night before so you are not rushing on the morning. Write a note listing the contents so the person holding it knows what is inside.
Choose someone reliable who will not be too busy to help. This could be a bridesmaid, a groomsman, your planner or a family member. Tell them exactly where the bag is and when they might need it.
Keep the kit with you during photos if you need quick fixes. Hand it over for the reception if you will be busy with guests. A small rucksack or tote works better than a clutch for carrying everything.
Tips for a bridal emergency kit that works
Use a clear bag so you can see what is inside at a glance. Label it clearly so anyone can find it in a hurry.
Check the weather forecast and add items for rain or heat. Pack a spare outfit if your dress is delicate, such as a clean shirt or a change of shoes.
Include a few treats for later: mints, chocolate, a water bottle and a snack. Add a spare copy of your order of service or a pen for signing the marriage schedule. Keep cash in the kit for any last-minute purchases.
