How to RSVP to a birthday party by text?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Reply directly to the host's text with a clear yes or no, plus your name and how many people are coming. Keep it friendly and prompt.

When you receive a text invitation, reply as soon as you can, ideally within a day or two. Start with a warm thank you, then state clearly whether you can attend. If you are bringing a partner or children, say so and confirm the exact number of guests. If you cannot attend, be honest but kind, and send your best wishes. Avoid vague replies like "maybe" unless the host has asked for that. If the invitation asks for a response by a certain date, make sure you reply before then. A simple message works well: "Thanks so much for the invite! I'd love to come, and it will be just me." or "So sorry, I can't make it, but I hope you have a lovely day." If you need to check details like parking or dietary options, ask in the same text. Remember that text RSVPs are often informal, so you do not need to write a long message. Just be clear, polite and timely. If you change your plans after replying, let the host know straight away so they can adjust numbers.
