How do you word an RSVP card in Tagalog?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Write the RSVP card in Tagalog with a clear request and reply options. For example: "Mangyaring tumugon bago ang [date]." Then give choices like "Tatanggi" for declining and "Tatanggi nang may kasiyahan" for accepting.

Start with a warm request in Tagalog, such as "Mangyaring ipaalam sa amin kung makakadalo ka" (Please let us know if you can attend). Add the reply date clearly: "Inaasahan namin ang inyong tugon bago ang [date]" (We expect your reply before [date]).

For the response options, keep them simple and respectful. Use "Tatanggi" for "will attend" and "Tatanggi nang may kasiyahan" for "will attend with pleasure". For declining, write "Hindi makakadalo" (cannot attend) or "Pasensya na, hindi makakadalo" (sorry, cannot attend). If you want a more formal tone, use "Tatanggapin ko ang imbitasyon" (I accept the invitation) and "Hindi ko tatanggapin ang imbitasyon" (I do not accept the invitation).

Add a line for the guest's name: "Pangalan:" and for the number of guests: "Bilang ng mga dadalo:". If you need dietary preferences, write "Mga pagkaing bawal o espesyal:" (food restrictions or special requests).

Remember that Tagalog has formal and informal registers. For older relatives or guests you do not know well, use "po" and "opo" to show respect, for example "Mangyaring po tumugon". For close friends and family, the informal version is fine.

If you are unsure about the exact wording, ask a native speaker to check it. The card should feel warm and clear, just like an English RSVP, but in Tagalog.
