What should you check before sending wedding invitations to print?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For parents

Short answer

Check all names and spellings, the date and time, the venue address, and your RSVP details. Also verify the paper size, quantity, and that your design has correct bleed and margins.

Before you send your invitations to print, read every word aloud. Check the couple's names, both sets of parents' names if included, and the venue's full address. Confirm the date, day of the week, and start time. One wrong digit in a postcode or time can cause real confusion.

Check your RSVP details carefully. If you have a website, make sure the web address is correct and the RSVP date is clear. If you are using printed reply cards, check the return address and postage. Also confirm the number of invitations you need, including a few spare for mistakes or late additions.

Look at the design file itself. Make sure there is enough bleed (usually 3mm on each side) so nothing gets cut off. Check that text is not too close to the edge. If you have images, check they are high resolution, at least 300dpi at the final size. And confirm the paper type and finish you chose, so the printer does not substitute something else.

Finally, ask for a digital proof and read it on screen, then print one copy at home if you can. That gives you a last chance to spot errors before the full run.
