Short answer
Stand at a slight angle to the camera, not face-on, and put your weight on your back foot. Place one hand on your hip to create a waistline, and keep your arms slightly away from your body. Avoid standing in the middle of the group.
In group photos, small adjustments make a big difference. Stand at a three-quarter angle to the camera, with your chest turned slightly away and your face looking towards the lens. This narrows your silhouette. Put most of your weight on your back foot and let your front knee relax, which creates a natural curve.
Place one hand on your hip, with your elbow pointing outwards. This creates a gap between your arm and your body, which visually slims your waist. Keep your arms slightly away from your sides, not pressed against them, so you do not look wider. Also, avoid standing in the centre of the group, as the middle tends to be the widest point. Stand near the edge, where the curve of the group naturally makes you look narrower.
Wear darker colours or vertical patterns if you can, but do not overthink it. The most important thing is to stand tall with good posture. Pull your shoulders back and imagine a string pulling you up from the top of your head. A confident, upright stance makes everyone look better. Also, do not hide behind someone else, as that can look awkward. Just angle yourself, relax, and smile.
