Short answer
Current styles favour clean lines, comfort and individuality. Slip dresses, A-lines and sheath silhouettes lead the way, often in satin or crepe. Detachable sleeves, corset backs, low backs and subtle floral embroidery are popular details. Vintage and second-hand dresses are also very much in style.
The current mood is less about one trend and more about personal expression. Many brides choose dresses that feel like themselves rather than following a single look. The slip dress remains strong, but you will also see A-lines with simple skirts, and sheath dresses that move easily. Ballgowns are less common but still loved by those who want a grand entrance.
Fabrics lean towards matte satin, crepe, mikado and lightweight tulle. Lace is still around, but often used sparingly, like on sleeves or a hem. Detachable elements are popular: a train that clips off, sleeves that come on and off, or an overskirt that turns a simple dress into a fuller one. Corset backs give structure and allow for size changes on the day.
Colour is shifting too. Many dresses are not pure white. Champagne, ivory, blush, silver and even pale blue or green appear in collections. Some brides add a coloured sash or wear a coloured underlayer. Sustainability matters to many, so renting, buying pre-loved or choosing a dress made from eco-friendly fabric is increasingly common.
