How can I save money on wedding signage?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For the bridal party

Short answer

Make your own signage using a home printer and frames from charity shops, or use a digital screen at the venue to display welcome messages and directions.

Wedding signage can be surprisingly expensive, but it is also one of the easiest things to DIY. Start by deciding which signs you really need. A welcome sign, a table plan and a few direction arrows are usually enough. You can skip signs for things like the bar or the cake table if guests can see them clearly.

For a simple look, print your text at home or at a local print shop on good quality paper, then put it in frames you have collected from charity shops or second hand sites. Frames look elegant and cost very little. You can also use a large mirror or a piece of wood from a DIY store, and write on it with chalk or paint pens. That is cheap and personal.

Another option is to use a digital screen or tablet on an easel to show a slideshow of your welcome message, the order of the day and directions. That costs nothing extra if you already own a tablet. If you do want printed signs, keep the design simple and use one colour. That reduces printing costs. Finally, ask your venue if they have any signage you can borrow, such as a welcome board or a table number holder.
