Wedding savings planner: how much to save each month

This planner works out how much you need to save each month or week to reach your wedding budget by the date of each payment. Enter your target amount, what you have saved already and your wedding date. We show you the monthly and weekly amount so you can plan ahead.

Start early. The sooner you begin, the less you need to set aside each month. Set aside a fixed amount on payday, if that works for you. If you have a payment due sooner, we show you the amount for that date too.

Break your budget into payment dates. A deposit is often due months before the wedding, so plan for that first.

• Add a small extra amount each month for things you have not thought of yet.
• Put any gifts of money or a bonus straight into your savings pot.
• Check your plan every few months and change the amount if your budget grows.
• Keep your savings in one place so you can see your total.

You do not need to save everything at once. Start with what you can afford this month and build from there. Even a small amount adds up over time.

If your wedding is soon, we show you the weekly amount so you can see what is realistic. If you are unsure about your total cost, start with a rough figure and update it as you book venues and suppliers. Your plan will change as your plans change, and that is fine.
