What should you write on a wedding invitation with a QR code?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Write a short instruction next to the QR code, like "Scan to RSVP" or "Scan to share your photos". Keep it clear and simple so guests know what to do.

On your wedding invitation, the QR code should have a clear label so guests know what it does. Write a short phrase directly above or below the code, such as "Scan to RSVP" or "Scan for our wedding website". If the code leads to your photo album, write "Scan to upload your photos". Avoid long sentences or extra information that could confuse people.

You might also add a tiny line like "Use your phone camera" if you think older guests may not know how to scan. Keep the text in the same font and colour as the rest of the invitation, but make sure it stands out enough to be noticed. Place the QR code in a corner or at the bottom of the invitation, away from other graphics or text that could interfere with scanning.

If the QR code is for RSVP, include the deadline nearby, for example "Please scan by 1 June". If it is for photos, you can add a friendly note like "We would love to see your pictures". For a wedding website, write "Find directions, gift list and more". Always test the code before printing, and print a few extra copies in case guests lose the invitation.
