How to add location scanner in invitation?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Add a QR code that links to your wedding venue's map or directions page. Guests can scan it to open the location straight in their phone's maps app.

First find the exact address of your venue and test how it shows up in a maps app. Many venues have a dedicated page on your wedding website with parking, transport and accessibility details. You can put a QR code on the invitation that links directly to that page. This is clearer than just writing the address, especially if the venue is large or has several entrances.

You can also create a QR code that opens a live map pin. When guests scan it, their phone will show them the route from their current location. This is very useful for out-of-town guests or anyone travelling by car. Make sure the map works on both iPhone and Android before you print.

For the design, place the QR code near the venue details on the invitation. Add a short line of text above it, such as 'Scan for directions' or 'Tap for the map'. Keep the code large and clear. If your invitation is printed, ask the printer to check the image quality.

If you are having a multi-day celebration with events at different places, consider separate QR codes for each location. This keeps things tidy and avoids confusion.
