How do you make a QR code for a wedding invitation with a song request?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Create a QR code that links to an online form where guests can type their song requests. Print the code on your invitation or a separate card, and guests scan it with their phone camera.

The simplest way is to set up a free online form using a service you already use, such as a spreadsheet tool or a notes app that lets you share a link. Add fields for the guest's name and their song choice, plus an optional message to the couple. Then generate a QR code for that link using any free QR code generator website. Copy the code into your invitation design, or print it on a small card tucked inside the envelope. Make sure the link is set so anyone with the link can edit the form, not just you, otherwise guests will see a blank page. Test the code yourself before printing, using a different phone, to check it lands on the right page. You can also add a short line on the invitation such as "Scan to request a song" to make the purpose clear. Keep the form open until a week before the wedding so you have time to build the playlist. If you prefer a paper option, you can still use the QR code for guests who want to add songs later, and collect written requests on the night as a backup.
