Short answer
Three months before your wedding, send your invitations, confirm your guest numbers with your venue, and book any remaining suppliers. Arrange your wedding rings, order your outfits, and plan your ceremony readings and music. Start your seating plan.
This is the month to turn plans into bookings. Send your invitations so guests have plenty of time to reply. Set a clear RSVP date, usually two to three weeks before the wedding, so you can confirm final numbers with your venue and caterer.
Order your wedding rings and make sure your outfits are ordered or in for alterations. Book any remaining suppliers, such as hair and make-up, transport, and a cake maker. If you are having a civil ceremony, check with your registrar that your chosen readings and songs are allowed. Remember, civil ceremonies cannot include religious content, but poems and non-religious readings are fine if the registrar agrees.
Start your seating plan using your RSVP list. Think about who will sit near whom, and whether you need a children's table or a quiet space. Plan your ceremony order and choose your readings and music. If you have a bridal party, confirm their outfits and roles, and arrange any rehearsals.
If you are marrying in a place of worship, check that all paperwork is in order, such as banns or a licence. If you are giving notice now, remember the legal minimums: 28 days in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and 29 days in Scotland.
