Short answer
Rest as much as possible, drink plenty of fluids, and take simple remedies like paracetamol. Tell your partner and a trusted helper so they can adjust the day for you. Your ceremony can still go ahead, just pace yourself and ask for support.
First, accept that a cold on your wedding day is manageable, even if it feels unfair. Start the day slowly. Stay in bed longer if you can, drink warm water with honey and lemon, and take a painkiller if you need it. Avoid alcohol, as it dehydrates you and makes symptoms worse.
Let your partner, bridal party or a close family member know how you are feeling. They can help by carrying tissues, bringing you drinks, and speaking to the venue or registrar if you need a short pause. Keep your speech or vows short, and ask someone else to read longer parts if you have them.
Wear layers or keep a cardigan nearby, as temperature changes can make a cold worse. Use a menthol balm on your chest or temples, and keep lozenges in your pocket. If your voice is croaky, have a glass of water on the table during the meal.
If your cold turns into a fever, severe headache or chest pain, seek medical advice. Otherwise, remember that your guests are there to celebrate you, not to judge your sniffles. Many couples have married with a cold and still had a lovely day. Focus on the marriage, not the mucus.
