What are some DIY fall wedding decoration ideas?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For the bridal party

Short answer

Use seasonal leaves, pinecones, pumpkins, apples and warm-toned candles. Arrange them on tables, along aisles or in a simple centrepiece for an autumn feel.

Autumn gives you a rich palette of oranges, burgundies, golds and browns. Collect leaves and press them, then use them as place cards, table runners or to decorate lanterns. Small pumpkins and squashes make excellent centrepieces, either on their own or grouped with candles and foliage. Pinecones can be painted, dusted with glitter or left natural, and used as napkin rings, favours or scattered along the aisle. Apples and pears look lovely in bowls or hanging from branches as a natural garland. Use cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices and star anise in jars for a fragrant table display. For lighting, choose warm white fairy lights and lots of candles in glass holders, which suit the season. A simple backdrop of autumn leaves strung on twine, or a wooden arch wrapped in ivy and berries, works well. If you are outdoors, check the weather and have a plan for wind and rain. Keep the look natural and cosy, and avoid anything too plastic or shiny.
