What should I ask a wedding venue about accommodation?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Ask how many guests can stay on site, what room types are available, and whether there is a minimum stay. Also ask about nearby hotels, group booking rates, and whether rooms are held for your guests until a certain date.

Ask the venue how many bedrooms they have and whether all your guests can stay on site. If not, ask how many rooms are available and whether there is a nearby hotel or B&B you can recommend. Ask about room types: are there family rooms, accessible rooms, or rooms for guests with mobility needs?

Ask about booking terms. Can guests book directly, or do you need to allocate rooms? Is there a group rate, and is it the same for all room types? Ask whether rooms are held for your wedding party until a set date, and what happens after that date. Ask about minimum stays, especially if your wedding is on a Friday or Sunday.

Ask about check-in and check-out times. Can guests check in early to get ready for the ceremony? Is there a late checkout the next morning? Ask whether breakfast is included and what time it is served. Also ask if there are rooms for you and your partner on the wedding night, and whether the venue decorates them or provides anything special. Finally, ask about cancellation policies for guests, so you can pass clear information on to your guests.
