How do you make a wedding website password that is easy for older guests to remember?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Use a simple word that means something to you, like your surname, the venue name, or your wedding date in words. Add a number they already know, like the year, and keep it short.

Older guests often struggle with long, random passwords full of symbols. The best password is one they can guess or recall without writing it down. Start with a word that is personal to your wedding, such as your surname, the name of your venue, or the town where you are marrying. For example, "Smith2025" or "RoseCottage" are easy to remember.

Avoid using the letter O and the number 0 together, and avoid using the letter l and the number 1 together. These look the same on many screens and cause frustration. Also avoid case sensitivity if you can, or if you must use capitals, make them obvious, like starting with a capital letter only.

You can also use a short phrase that means something to your family, like "TogetherAtLast" or "TwoFamilies". Keep it under 12 characters if possible. Write the password on your save the date and invitation, and also mention it in a reminder email or text before the wedding. If a guest still struggles, offer to log them in yourself or send them a direct link that does not need a password.
