How do you make a QR code for a wedding seating chart?

Short answer

Create a digital seating chart as a webpage or PDF, upload it to a hosting service, copy the link, and generate a QR code. Print the code on a poster or table card so guests scan to see their table.

Start by making your seating chart in a simple format, such as a PDF or a webpage. If you use a wedding website builder, you can add a seating chart page there. Otherwise, upload a PDF to a cloud storage service and set it to share with anyone who has the link. Copy that link. Then use a free QR code generator to turn the link into a code. Download the code as a high-quality image. Print it on an A4 or A3 poster and place it near the entrance to the reception, or put small printed cards on each table. Make sure the font on the digital chart is large enough to read on a phone screen. Test the QR code from a few metres away, because guests will scan it while standing. If your chart changes close to the day, update the PDF or webpage and the code will still work, as long as the link stays the same. Avoid using a dynamic QR code that expires, unless you manage it carefully. Keep the chart simple, with table numbers or names and guest names listed clearly.
