How do you choose a wedding website domain name?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For parents

Short answer

Pick a clear, simple web address using your names and wedding year so guests can find and remember it easily. Keep it short, spell it out and test it before you share it.

Start with both of your names and the year of your wedding. This makes the address easy to remember and type. Use a hyphen only if you need to join two words, and avoid numbers unless they mean something clear. Think about how your guests will hear it. If you say the address out loud, will they spell it correctly? Avoid tricky spellings, double letters or words that sound the same.

Check that the name works on phones and desktops. Some guests may copy it from a paper invite, so keep it short enough to fit on a card. If your names are common, you may need to add your town or the wedding year to make it unique.

Once you have a few ideas, type each one into a browser to see if it is free. Make sure it is the main version, not a similar one. Think about the full address you will put on your invites and e-invites, including any RSVP links.

If you are unsure about the technical side, our wedding website service sets up the address and links for you. It also adds product suggestions to the page template automatically, so you do not need to choose them yourself.
