How long should a wedding website stay live after the wedding?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

There is no fixed rule, but most couples keep the site live for one to three months after the wedding. That gives guests time to see photos and leave messages. After that, you can delete it or hide it.

The main reason to keep the site live after the wedding is for guests who want to revisit details, see photos or leave congratulations. A month is usually enough for most people to look. Three months is generous, especially if you have posted a full photo gallery.

If you have used the site for RSVPs, you may want to keep it live until you have sent all thank-you notes. That way, guests can check the details if they need to. Once the notes are sent, the site has done its job.

Some couples keep the site live for a year as a digital keepsake. That is fine, but remember to update it after the wedding. Change the RSVP section to a thank-you message, and add a few photos. A site that still says "RSVP by 1 June" looks odd in December.

If you are worried about privacy, you can make the site private after the wedding. That means only people with the link can see it. Then you can keep it as long as you like without strangers finding it.
