Short answer
A wedding makeup trial usually lasts between 45 minutes and two hours. The exact time depends on the artist, the look you want and whether hair is included.
Most artists book a slot of about an hour for makeup on its own. If you want the artist to do your hair too, expect closer to two hours. Some may offer a shorter 30 minute trial for a quick touch-up, but this is less common.
Arrive with a clean, moisturised face and your usual skincare routine. Bring photos of the look you have in mind, plus your veil or headpiece if you plan to wear one. This helps the artist match the style to your outfit and any jewellery you will wear.
Use the trial to check how the makeup looks in natural light and how it holds up. Ask the artist to take photos of you from different angles. You can then compare them with your wedding day photos later.
If you have sensitive skin, tell the artist beforehand and ask to test products on a small patch of skin first. Agree on the final cost and timing before you start, so there are no surprises on the day.
