What is a wedding seating plan for round tables?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

A round table plan seats guests around circular tables, typically eight to ten people, and is ideal when you want everyone to see and talk to each other.

Round tables are the classic choice for banquets and hotel venues. They fit most rooms and make it easy for guests to hear each other. Aim for eight to ten guests per table, depending on the table size and chair style.

Start by seating the couple and then the bridal party. Place the parents of the couple at tables nearby, often on opposite sides of the room. Mix friends, colleagues and relatives so no one sits alone. Put younger children at a table with their parents or near the edge of the room.

Number each table and add a seating chart at the entrance. Use place cards for a formal touch, or just table numbers if guests choose their own seats. Keep centre pieces low so people can see across the table. If a guest has a disability or needs extra space, tell your venue so they can arrange a suitable seat.
