Short answer
For round tables, keep the centre low and symmetrical. A ring of candles around a small vase of flowers, or a cluster of lanterns with greenery, works beautifully and leaves room for plates and glasses.
Round tables are great for conversation, so your centrepiece should not block sightlines. A low arrangement, about the height of a wine glass, works best. One simple idea is a circular tray or mirror with three or four pillar candles of different heights, surrounded by scattered petals or small stones.
Another easy option is a single large bowl filled with floating candles and a few flower heads. This looks elegant and takes minutes to put together. If you prefer greenery, use a wreath base made from ivy or eucalyptus, and place a hurricane glass with a tea light in the middle.
For a more personal touch, use items that mean something to you. Old books, family photos, or small framed quotes can sit at the base. Add a few sprigs of lavender or rosemary for scent. If you want height, use a tall, slim vase with a single stem, but keep it narrow so it does not block anyone.
Remember to think about the whole table. Place settings, cutlery and glasses take up space. Leave a clear ring around the edge so guests can reach their plates easily. Test your layout with a full place setting before the day.
