Short answer
There are no universally unacceptable colours for a UK wedding. Your colour choices are yours to make, and any shade can work if it fits your venue, season and personal taste. The only real limits are practical ones, like avoiding colours that clash with your photos or make guests uncomfortable.
In the UK, there is no official list of colours you cannot use at a wedding. Tradition once suggested avoiding white for guests so they do not compete with the couple, but that is a guest etiquette point, not a rule for your decoration. For your own wedding, you are free to choose any palette you love.
What matters more is how colours work in your space. Very dark colours can make a small room feel heavy, while very bright colours can overwhelm a delicate setting. Think about the season too. Deep burgundy and forest green suit autumn and winter, while soft pastels and citrus shades feel fresh in spring and summer.
If you are having a civil ceremony, the registrar will not restrict your colour choices. For a religious ceremony, the place of worship may have its own guidelines about flowers or decoration, so it is always worth asking the officiant or venue coordinator. They might prefer certain colours to be muted or placed in specific areas.
The best approach is to choose colours that mean something to you as a couple. Whether that is your favourite football team's colours or the shades from your first holiday together, your wedding should reflect you. If a colour feels right, it is acceptable.
