How do you livestream a wedding on a video call platform?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For guests

Short answer

Create a meeting or call, share the link with remote guests, and start the call on a device placed near the ceremony. Mute guests and ask them to watch. Test the connection and audio beforehand.

Choose a video call platform that allows enough participants for your remote guest list. Most platforms have a free tier, but check the limits. Create a meeting and copy the link. Send the link to guests by email or text a day before, and again an hour before the ceremony. On the day, set up your device on a tripod or a stable surface. Join the meeting yourself, then mute all participants so background noise does not disrupt the ceremony. You can also disable their video to save bandwidth. Position the device so the camera points at the couple and the officiant. If you have a second device, you can use it as a backup or for a closer view. Test the audio by speaking from the front of the room and asking a friend to confirm they can hear you. If the sound is poor, move the device closer or use a small external microphone if you have one. Start the call about ten minutes before the ceremony begins, so guests can join and settle. You can also record the call locally as a backup.
