What is the cheapest month for a wedding?

Answered by the UK Wedding Websites editorial team · Updated 2026-10-12 · For parents

Short answer

In the UK, January and February are usually the cheapest months for weddings. Venues and suppliers often have lower demand then, so you may get better availability and more negotiating room. Weekdays are also cheaper than Saturdays.

Wedding costs vary by venue, region and day of the week, but generally the off-season months of January, February and November are more affordable than the popular summer months. Many venues offer lower prices for weekday weddings too, especially Monday to Thursday. If you are flexible, a Friday or Sunday can also save money compared with a Saturday. Keep in mind that winter weddings have their own charm, with cosy lighting and warm food, but you may need to plan for weather and shorter daylight hours. Some venues have indoor and outdoor spaces, so check what is available in winter. Also, because demand is lower, you might find that your favourite photographer, caterer or florist has more availability and is open to a better package. Do not assume that a cheap month means lower quality. It just means less competition for dates. If you have a tight budget, ask venues for their off-peak rates and be upfront about your needs.
